FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FIRST TIME PARTICIPANTS

I want to drive my car on the track, how do I do so?
All first time drivers must complete our New Member Orientation. Once they do so, they are licensed to run at any ProAutoSports sanctioned event.

What types of cars are allowed on track?
Any car you drive on the street is allowed. We have had a variety of cars from SUVs, exotics, sports cars and race cars.

Do I need any extra modifications or safety equipment on my car to drive on the track?
Nothing extra is needed! You need your manufacturer’s standard equipment (tires, brakes, and seatbelts) that are in good working condition.

When and how can I get started?
We offer our New Member Orientation class on both Friday and Saturday at most of our scheduled events. You can pre-register over the phone, email, or online. Our New Member Orientation usually starts in the classroom at 8am sharp! Your day will be spent in the classroom and on the track: there will be two sessions in the classroom and two sessions in the car with an instructor or in a "lead/follow" style exercise. Then in the afternoon, you will run two 20 minute sessions with our novice group: instructors are optional for those 2 runs. We always have instructors available at all times to assist you. Generally, your day ends around 4pm.

After I complete the New Member Orientation, what is next?
ProAutoSports offers many options to get back out on the track. We offer 2 and 3 day events throughout the year, and have several different levels for street cars to advance through. You will also have the ability to transition into a race group, if you prefer.

How much will this cost?
Your first time out, you must attend the New Member Orientation which costs $200 and includes your yearly membership, a Certificate and other ProAutoSports items. Once you complete the New Member Orientation, you can come run at any ProAutoSports sanctioned event. We pride ourselves at being able to provide a first class driving experience that is safe, affordable, and fun. If you include early registration discounts and multiple day discounts, you can get the track cost down to $140 a day.
Of course there are other expenses tied in to racing: gas, tires, advanced safety equipment, etc. But at ProAutoSports, we strive to keep your on-track cost down.

What do I need to do to prepare my car for the track?
Remove all loose items from the interior of your car, including the trunk. Fill the gas tank and set tire pressure to manufacturer’s specifications. Also, make sure to check all fluid levels.

What should I bring and what do I need to wear?
Drivers must have a Snell or DOT approved safety helmet (less than ten years old and in good condition) and must wear closed toe shoes. We do have loaner helmets available at the track. We also recommend a long sleeved shirt and long pants.

Can I bring my convertible car out to the track?
Yes, however, you must drive with the top up, unless you have an approved roll bar.
